Santa Monica Porpoises
Friday, March 20th, 2009We came across this ‘herd’ of porpoises as we entered Santa Monica Bay. They were obviously late for lunch!

Embarking on the Bash
Sunday, March 1st, 2009The weather is beautiful, for heading to windward. If I were sailing south, I’d be a little bit disappointed in the lack of wind, but it ought to allow us to make good progress for the first leg. Bruce and I will most likely have a decent dinner at the Barefoot Cantina before we set sail, that way we’ll make landfall in Turtle Bay in the morning on the 4th. I should be able to post another blog from there, outlining the itinerary after a good look at an updated forecast. If the current outlook holds, we will arrive in San Diego on the 7th, and pick up another crew or two there for the last push to San Francisco.
Bienvenidos from Cabo San Lucas!
Saturday, February 28th, 2009Ahhh, Mexico. Hot, humid, land of fermented cactus…
I have settled into my berth on S/V Home Free, and made the necessary repairs to the autopilot. My only crew, Bruce, is scheduled to arrive tomorrow afternoon, and we will be departing as fast as he can buy food, to try to make our first leg by the 4th.
Here are some shots of the boat and the marina at Puerto Los Cabos:
